Da Nang is the third largest city in Vietnam. It is in close proximity in Hue-3 hours North and Hoi An-30 minutes South.
Da Nang is growing into one of the most livable city, with attractive beach front resorts on one side and Han river flowing on the other.
The ideal time to travel Da Nang is on dry season from March to August. Personally, we tend to think that backpacking travelers could choose low season from March to April.
This is the best way to Da Nang. Daily flight come in and out off Da Nang International airport connect the city with Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh city, Nha Trang, Da Lat. The flight cost is depending on the destination, time and how well you book in advance.
Da Nang is the prominent stop for North-bound and South-bound train. Many train cars are equipped with soft bed and air conditioner. The perfect way you could enjoy the landscapes from South to Middle of Vietnam, especially the ride across Hai Van Pass.
Trains to Da Nang are served by the Vietnam Raiway System.
Vehicle in Da nang city:
Traveling by motorbike is the best choice for all Vietnamese people.
However, if you are not familiar with driving this vehicle, we would not recommend you this because it is risky.
At least you have to set up your skills first such as situational awareness; excellent balance and remember to check the bike carefully: tires, horn, brakes and lights.
There are two common types of motorbike: automatic and manual transmission. We highly suggest you should choose an automatic one because it is easily handled.
Da Nang bus station is located in the city center, so it is very convenient for to purchase your local bus ticket. Bus services starts at 5:30 am and stops operating at 4:00 pm. Therefore, you should schedule the nearest bus near you and the arrival time of bus. There are frequent bus every half hour between Da Nang, Hue and Hoi An.

Day 1: My Khe beach – Asian Park – Artinus
My Khe beach:
Selected as “one of the most attractive beaches on the planet” by Forbes Magazines, the popular beach My Khe is from the base of the Son Tra Peninsula to the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son). It takes 5 km to get there from Da Nang city center and 25 km from Hoi An.
My Khe beach is famous for its blue sky, lasted 10 km long of coastline and warm water year round. Moreover, it was voted as “one of 10 most popular beaches in Asia” by The Sunday Herald Sun of Australia.
Asian Park – Sun World Da Nang wonders:
Situated on the West bank of Han River, Asian Park contains several unique features with three main areas: an amusement park with modern rides, attraction and shows; a cultural park and central zone, the interface between modern and traditional features. Linking the area between the two parks is the 115 meters tall Sun Wheel which is surrounded by lavish gardens and modern and traditional features.
The best way to visit Asian Park is to travel by taxi, motorbike or bus. t takes 12 mins to from Da Nang International Airport and 14 mins from Da Nang Train station.

Art in paradise Da Nang

Day 2: Son Tra Peninsula – Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son):
Son Tra Peninsula:
One of the most incredible areas near Da Nang city is Son Tra peninsula, a gift of creator, which is famous for amazing view and several interesting things to see and do.
The Man Thai fishing village is the first stop of our diary travel today. Located just before the road going up the hill, this destination will provide you an interesting lens into the local’s lives. If you visit there in the early morning, you could easily observe how the fishermen get ready for the day at sea.
Next stop is Linh Ung pagoda, is one of the most sacred place in the heart of Da Nang. The outstanding feature is the Lady Buddha monument, 67 meters high which looks down to the village and the city below to bless the people.
Heading to the little road site to point you to the Light House and the Giant Banyan tree. Be cautious not to drive so fast on the steep road, covered with vines and rocks.
Grabbing your chance to explore the Giant Banyan tree with is estimated to be over 1000 years old is about 22 m in height and 10 m in tree-trunk circumference and 85 m in giant tree circumference. This is the source of life of Red- Shanked Doucs- a kind of primates living mainly in Indo-Chinese at Son Tra (being discovered in 1771).
Once you reach the top of this hill, turn right. That area is called the Monkey Passage, a home of the Red – Shanked Doucs, a very rare monkey and you can see special ropes hanged over the road for the monkeys to cross it and to not get hit of passing vehicle.
Our final stop On Son Tra peninsular is Ban Co peak. You just only need pay 2,000 vnd for parking. From there, you could expose yourself in the spectacular view over the city apart from humid days.
Ban Co peak is also famous for the Statue of Confucius. The great philosopher playing chess is a tribute to the man. He is greatly influenced the Eastern culture.
Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son):
Welcome to Marble Mountains!
Being far 7 km in South from Da Nang city, Ngu Hanh Son is located on the yellow sand – bank with 2 kilometers length, 800 meters width, comprised of 5 mountains.
Among the five, Thuy Son, the mountain of water, is the highest one and also the main attraction. This mountain has many caves and Buddhist temples built the 17th century.
Climbing up about 150 stone steps from the foot of Thuy Son, you will reach the most beautiful feature: the Riverview Tower or Vong Giang Tower in Vietnamese.
Paying the visit to the tower, built in the 18th century by Emperor Minh Mang, take an overview to Truong Giang and Cam Le rivers and beautiful coastal ahead.
Non Nuoc Village:
Tourist are surely attracted by the the Non Nuoc Village at the foot of Marble Mountains. The famous products there are stone sculptures and handicrafts.
You could easily find many things made of marble stone, from small one like earrings, necklaces, vases to the huge sculptures of Buddha, keep a souvenir for family and friend.
Day 3: Sun World Ba Na Hill:
At the height of 1,487 m from the sea level and over 20 km away from Da Nang downtown, Sun World Ba Na hill on Chua Mountain is the top-tourist-must-visit in Vietnam. This is the most significant resort with spectacular climate and unique natural landscape.You could deeply feel the typical rotation of four seasons in a single day and jump into numerous festivities and relaxation.
The only one transport to reach the hill is cable cars. Sun World Ba Na Hills are equipped with 5 cable car routes. This construction won international awards with the accumulated capacity of nearly 7,000 passengers/hour and manufactured by Doppermayer.

Day 4: Cham Islands:
Cham Islands comprised eight small islands of the coast of Hoi An one of which is a recognized UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. The best time to visit Cham Islands is from March until September. If you are planning to dive or snorkel during your visit, we highly recommend you to visit between June and August.
To access to Cham islands, you could take a local boat that departs from Cua Dai Harbour every day at 08:30. Tickets cost 100,000 vnd (5$) for foreigners
Travelers are attracted to jump into a day of scuba diving and snorkeling or sunbathing and water sports on Hon Lao island.
You could choose to stay overnight at homestay, mostly located along Bai Chong Beach. However, there are also several restaurants and dive centers that offer tent rentals for about 250,000 vnd (100$) per night.
Day 5: Than Tai Hot Springs Park Danang – Hoi An

You could take a taxi, bus to head to Hoi An. It takes you around 30 minutes to get by taxi, 1 hour to get by bus.
